Senior Advisor and Innovation Fellow
Bio
Mayra Ameneiros is a Consultant and Professor on biosafety and biosecurity. She has a BSc in Biochemistry, a M.S. in blood banks and immunohematology, and a postgraduate degree in international security, disarmament, and non-proliferation of WMD. She is a Certified Professional in biorisk management and biosecurity, from the International Federation of Biosafety Associations (IFBA). Mayra has over a decade of experience in different biochemistry areas and conducting scientific research.
Mayra was awarded in 2021 with an Innovation Fellowship from PandemicTech, where she worked in different biosafety and biosecurity projects internationally, and since 2022 she serves as a Senior Advisor.
Currently, she is a Research Associate at King´s College London, Department of War Studies, supporting the GlobalBioLabs project, which aims to increase public knowledge about maximum containment facilities around the world and to strengthen national and international biorisk management policies and practices.
She is a Director of Strategic Engagement and Development at Biopreparedness International, a company that offers affordable, top-quality, accessible, interactive online Biosafety and Biosecurity training to the world and a Consulting Advisory Board (CAB) member at Merrick & Company´s Life Sciences, supporting current, under-addressed, and emerging issues in the biosafety and biosecurity space.
Mayra is engaged in various national and international organizations related to Biosafety, Biosecurity and Global Health Security. Mayra has several roles related to the Global Health Security Agenda Consortium (GHSAC), as she is a member of the Steering Committee, the APP3 group on Biosafety and Biosecurity, and the Task Force on Advocacy and Communications.
Mayra is a member of the Safety and Security Committee at iGEM, a lecturer at the iGEM Academy during 2021, and a member of The International Working Group on Strengthening the Culture of Biosafety, Biosecurity and Responsible Conduct in the Life Sciences.
Since 2022, Mayra serves as the Deputy Coordinator for the Next Generation Global Health Security Network (NextGen), in this role Mayra is NextGen’s liaison to the GHSAC and the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) NGO working group.
At the national level, she is a member of the Biosafety and the Biorisk Management Committee at IRAM and the Biosafety and Biosecurity Subcommittee at the Argentinean Association of Microbiology.

Argentinian biorisk management and biosecurity expert Mayra Belén Ameneiros has been awarded a PandemicTech Innovation Fellowship for her efforts to support PandemicTech’s collaboration with Cairo University to build biosafety and biosecurity training capacity in Egypt.
